Denison Avenue
Christina Wong
This is one of the best books I have read in a long time, and I cried at multiple parts. A touching story about grief, immigration, gentrification, community, and culture, all taking place in the very familiar backdrop of Chinatown/Kensington Market in Toronto. Essential reading as a Canadian living in Southern Ontario, and it made me look back both fondly and critically at my past time living in Toronto. Cannot recommend enough!

The Colour Of Revenge
Cornelia Funke
A great conclusion to the series after the slog of the 3rd book. I really like how the previously principal characters took a back seat and let the Inkworldians shine.

Days At The Morisaki Bookshop
Satoshi Yagisawa
A nice easy read. Only wish the book was a bit longer. The book is a slice of life book about the love of reading, whether it’s veteran readers, or people learning to love to read for the first time, and the connections that brings about.

I am traveling to Scotland in the fall and am trying to track down some Scottish fiction in preparation. This was written in Scots! I found it challenging and spooky, great brief read.

Empire Of Wild
Cherie Dimaline
I enjoyed the locale of this novel and found the drama to be very entertaining! I have heard the stories of the Rogarou previously and enjoyed the delivery of this story through these characters. I found the connection between the traditional Metis story and Bavaria quite interesting. Overall, pretty good!

H.p. Lovecraft's At The Mountains Of Madness Volume 1 (manga)
Gou Tanabe
When it comes to horror H.P Lovecraft is a classic. This version of the book has been adapted into a graphic novel. While I do think giving picture to cosmic horror lessens its impact, the artist captured the expeditions slow decent into madness perfectly.
